Every other year, Babes With Blades Theatre Company presents a fully staged Shakespeare work cast entirely with actors who identify as female, trans and/or gender-nonconforming, thereby allowing audiences to perceive The Bard’s great works through a new lens. This year, the offering is Othello, the passionate tale of pride, prejudice, slander and revenge directed by veteran Mignon McPherson Stewart. The large company features 10 Babes With Blades Ensemble members (plus guest artists), among them Fight Director Samantha Kaufman. Babes With Blades, of course, is Chicago’s long-established, female-centric stage combat theater troupe. Othello is presented at the Factory Theater, 1623 Howard Street. Regular tickets are $28, through May 25: visit http://BabesWithBlades.org.
