On Aug. 30-31, at 8 p.m., the Muslim Writers Collective will host a program at Steppenwolf Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St., with artists from multiple performative backgrounds.
In collaboration with Steppenwolf’s LookOut Series, the two-night variety showcase (theater, comedy, poetry, sketch and music) will be based on the theme of empathy.
The Muslim Writers Collective is an initiative aimed at reclaiming control over the U.S. Muslim narrative and providing a safe space for current and aspiring writers. Through storytelling, creativity and culture, the members seek to incubate a vibrant literary tradition among its community.
