On June 18, the Chicago Red Stars (marking their Juneteenth match) used a second-half rally to pressure the Portland Thorns but fell just short, losing 3-2 at home.
Ella Stevens got the Red Stars on the board in the second half with a goal from a penalty kick, and rookie Ally Schlegel added to the score with her second goal of the season.
Stevens’ score was her seventh career goal and her third this season—more than any other Red Star in 2023.
Next, the Red Stars will take on NJ/NY Gotham FC on Sunday, June 25, at Red Bull Arena.
